Retreat Dates and Details for 2012-13

September 28, 29, and 30, 2012 to Camp DuBois, Nashville, IL.  All day Friday and Saturday returning noon – Sunday.

FEES–$150

ALL camp costs, sleeping, meals, and transportation costs are included in your reservation fee

TRANSPORTATION

  • A bus will take you to camp, but you need to plan your own transportation to school on Friday morning and have a pick-up on noon on Sunday.

CLOTHING AND BEDDING

  • Three changes of clothing
  • A jacket and/or sweatshirt with hoodie, neck scarf and gloves depending on the weather
  • An extra pair of shoes
  • Bed rap or sleeping bag with pillow.

There are mattresses, but you must provide your own sheets and covers–that’s why a sleeping bag is best, however you could roll your bedding up in a tight bundle, don’t go to the extra trouble and expense to purchase a sleeping bag.

TOILETRIES AND PERSONAL ITEMS

  • Do bring your medications if they are listed on your health form.
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap, wash cloth, and towel. `Please, only one suit case and not a trunk size, okay?  🙂   Bring only what you need for 2 1/2 days.

CAMERAS AND ELECTRONICS

  • Cameras are definitely allowed.  We want lots of pictures and we want to not only learn and grow, but have fun, too.  So, we encourage you to take group pictures, also, for our scrapbooks and our bulletin boards.  Please bring inexpensive cameras, though, or disposables.  We are not held responsible for loss or theft.
  • Cell phones.  This is a retreat–a retreat from regular life.  Do NOT bring your cell phone and then you will not be tempted to use it.  We have 24–hour security, 911 capability, and a director who lives on site, and we have an adult–student ratio of  1 to 10.  The camp number is 618-781-2202 and it is 24 hours around the clock .  If it becomes a problem, rings, or we catch you texting, we will confiscate it.  😦
  • Headphones and I-Pods and other sound systems as wells as DVD players will be allowed, as long as the student and parents/guardians understand that there will be many times where the electronic items will be unguarded.  Again, we will NOT be held responsible for damage, loss, or theft.   Do not bring expensive items.
  • MONEY–Do not bring more than $5 or $10.  Everything is included in your already paid reservation.
  • Vending machines may/may not be available.  Various drinks other than sodas will be served with meals.

HORSEBACK RIDING

  • If you decide to go horseback riding, you may decide to bring an extra pair of pants or shoes.  There is not an extra fee for this.  If you decide not to take part in this activity, that is okay.
  • For others that are waiting for their turn, and for those that have finished, we will be working on an IDOT grant.

There’s always something to do, both educationally, and socially.  It will be a great weekend for all involved.    🙂

    • Cabins in the woods. It is NOT Holiday Inn, but they are nice and clean. You will need a pillow and cover for the bunk bed matresses.
